Believe it our not when you are thinking about buying a home the first thing you need to do is NOT look at homes! Talk to a lender first. They can help you check to make sure your credit is in good order. Sometimes a big reason people get bad credit ratings is because there is an error on the report. There may also be little things adding up that you can remedy without too much effort. Ideally, you'll go with a local lender that has in house underwriting--this is huge as it can really speed-up the closing process. Need a reference on a few good lenders?
